Hypnosis can be used for many reasons. It is best known for deep relaxation therapy. We all experience hypnosis when we go to sleep, just prior to R.E.M. stage, (rapid eye movement). Our brain is similar to a digital recorder. It records everything we see, hear, touch, smell, fear, hate, love, etc., yet, we can only recall a tiny percentage of what is stored. As our brain stores data, it sorts the data into various states of consciousness, depending on how often the data will be accessed later, somewhat like a computer hard disk does. Nothing is ever deleted, it's simply put into different states, as does your computers recycle bin. Through hypnosis, we can unlock those other states of consciousness, and help the individual recall their memories.
Wikipedia Gives this definition for Hypnosis:
Hypnosis is a state of human consciousness involving focused attention and reduced peripheral awareness and an enhanced capacity for response to suggestion.[1] Theories explaining what occurs during hypnosis fall into two groups. Altered state theories see hypnosis as an altered state of mind or trance, marked by a level of awareness different from the ordinary conscious state.[2][3] In contrast, Non-state theories see hypnosis as a form of imaginative role-enactment.[4][5][6]
During hypnosis, a person is said to have heightened focus and concentration. The person can concentrate intensely on a specific thought or memory, while blocking out sources of distraction.[7] Hypnotised subjects are said to show an increased response to suggestions.[8] Hypnosis is usually induced by a procedure known as a hypnotic induction involving a series of preliminary instructions and suggestions.[1] The use of hypnotism for therapeutic purposes is referred to as "hypnotherapy", while its use as a form of entertainment for an audience is known as "stage hypnosis".
How does hypnosis fit into paranormal research ?
First of all, people can only remember, or recall about 3-5 percent of what they live through. This means everything one sees, hears, touches, feels, smells, tastes, thinks, is stored into memory, but 95 percent of it can’t be recalled. Obviously, if someone is trying to explain, or investigate a paranormal event, it makes sense to try to recall all the data from the event, not a small part of it.
When hypnosis is used on psychics, or clairvoyants the data from them is multiplied to very high levels that can’t be achieved in any other way.
Can I arrange for a hypnosis session myself ?
Probably not, I am generally quite busy, and I prefer to have the
paranormal society vet the subject first.
What do they do if a paranormal society decides they want to arrange a hypnosis session with me ?
1. Have the subject take a quick on-line hypnosis susceptibility test. It only takes a few minutes.
2. Email me the top, and bottom numbers given at the end of the test, and a brief summary of the situation with the subject, including a contact telephone number for the paranormal society, and best time to call.
I will take it from there. I will call the paranormal society, discuss the case, and set up an appointment for the session. I will set up a second call so the subject, or the society can ask any questions they may have prior to the session.
Take the on-line hypnosis susceptibility test
In haunting investigations we normally find the people who report the haunting have actually had many, many more haunting events than they remember. For example, one sees a shadow, but disregards it as something explainable. Then, they see an object move on its own, but blow it off. Then they hear a voice that they can’t explain, but don’t think much of it. These things go on, and on, sometimes for years on end until they finally admit the evidence is overwhelming. Through hypnosis we are often able to place all the pieces together, and recall many instances, long forgotten.
You should contact your local paranormal society. They will begin an investigation, then if they think hypnosis might help, they will contact me, and refer you to me.
